The Eldest Curses trilogy, beginning with The Red Scrolls of Magic, is incomplete, and obviously, so is the Last Hours trilogy. Three are completed: The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices. With the release of Chain of Gold, there will be five story arcs in the Shadowhunter universe. Since I’m so hyped for the release of Chain of gold, I thought I’d do some Shadowhunters related posts leading up to the publication! I’ve seen a lot about how people are getting confused due to the numerous characters, plot lines and general lore referred to in the book, and honestly, with such a large background to know before starting, it can be daunting! Heres a brief and (hopefully) enlightening guide to all the knowledge you need to arm yourself with before tackling Chain of Gold!Ĭhain of Gold is the first book in Cassandra Clare’s new Shadowhunters trilogy, The Last Hours. Anyways, I hope Chain of Gold further explores these topics. This was refreshing since the Shadowhunters are thought to be the “good guys”, and it almost seemed like they could do no bad. In The Dark Artifices, I loved how instead of having a “big bad villain”, she chose to focus on the shortcomings of the shadowhunters themselves, and the problems caused by shadowhunters. Clave politics is actually fascinating to read about since Cassandra Clare takes a lot of real-world problems and writes them in the context of the books.
So! It’s almost time for the newest instalment of the Shadowhunter chronicles!Įvery new series set in this world just seems to get better than the previous one, and I’m hoping the same is true for The Last Hours (especially since I’ve heard a lot of interesting thing about the direction this book is going to take).
